POB collects pairs of used eyeglasses and uses their parts to repair glasses at our Eyeglasses Clinic. For every pair of recycled eyeglasses collected, POB receives credit to purchase new eyeglass frames for its clinic through New Eyes for the Needy, a New Jersey-based non-profit organization that distributes the used glasses to the disadvantaged in developing countries.
POB also collects pairs of glasses for Celebrity Specs®, a fundraising and awareness project featuring eyeglasses and sunglasses along with autographed photos, donated by famous personalities. Many of the donated glasses are auctioned off at POB's annual Night of Vision gala, in support of our sight-saving programs. Click here to view a list of celebrities who have donated in the past. If you know any celebrities, please ask them to support this project, or contact us at (202) 234-1010.
