Giving your time is one of the most rewarding ways you can support POB's sight-saving programs. POB has a variety of volunteer opportunities that provide a way for you to utilize your skills and experience while making a difference in the community. POB actively recruits volunteers to help in the administrative office and resale shops, at health fairs by distributing information or performing glaucoma screenings, assisting at major fundraising events, and more.

Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities

Resale Shops

Volunteering at the resale shops is an ongoing weekly or monthly commitment depending on your schedule. Volunteers help with sorting donations, stocking, store displays and check-out. Please call your closest resale shop for more information, (703) 683-2558 (Alexandria) or (301) 942-4707 (Kensington).

Adult Glaucoma/Vision Screening

Volunteers working with the Adult Glaucoma and Vision Screening program will be trained to perform glaucoma and visual acuity screenings, and assist at health fairs. This is a volunteer position with the opportunity to become a paid hourly position. Travel is required to scheduled health fairs each month. You will also be required to attend a volunteer orientation for training. Please call Hal Morrison, director of the Adult Glaucoma and Vision Screening program, at (240) 731-2430 for more information.
